New Associate Director of Personalized Medicine Program

Kristin Weitzel, Pharm.D., CDE, FAPhA

Drs. Julie Johnson and David Nelson are pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Kristen Weitzel as the Associate Director of the Personalized Medicine Program (PMP).  In her new role, Dr. Weitzel will work closely with Dr. Johnson, the Clinical and Translational Science Institute (CTSI), and the PMP team as it embarks on program expansion.  Dr. Weitzel’s primary responsibilities within the program will be to 1) serve as the director of the educational programs, which will include development of CE programming, patient education materials, a health science center wide elective, a certificate program, and perhaps eventually an online MS program; 2) serve as the primary mentor for two PGY2 Pharmacogenomics residents; 3) Chair the Personalized Medicine Subcommittee of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics committee, along with general leadership within the program.  Her effort on the PMP will be supported by a new PMP grant.  She will continue her teaching roles within the Pharm.D. curriculum and will be developing a drug information APPE.  We are excited about the many contributions that Dr. Weitzel has already made to the PMP and look forward to her leadership in the program.  Please join us in congratulating her on this new appointment.
