About Renad Abu-Sawwa

Dr. Renad Abu-Sawwa is a Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical and Translational Research at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. She is also one of the Pediatric Intensive Care (PICU) Clinical Pharmacy Specialists at the UF Health Shands Children’s Hospital. She serves as a clinical preceptor at her practice site for PGY-2 and PGY-1 pharmacy residents and fourth-year Doctor of Pharmacy students.

Renad graduated from the University of Florida with both a Bachelors in Food Science and Human Nutrition with an emphasis in Human Nutrition and Doctor of Pharmacy. She completed a PGY-1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at Golisano Children’s Hospital at the University of Rochester Medical Center in Rochester, New York. During her PGY-1 year she completed a teaching certificate at St. John Fisher College, Wegmans School of Pharmacy. Following her PGY-1, Renad went on to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas for her PGY-2 Pediatric Pharmacy Residency. Before joining UF in 2021, she was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Georgia, where she developed a new practice site in the Pediatric Neurology/Epilepsy Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Georgia at the Augusta University Medical Center and served as a clinical preceptor for pharmacy residents and students.

Renad is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) American College of Clinical Pharmacy (ACCP), and Phi Lambda Sigma Pharmacy Leadership Society (PLS). She also is an active member of Pediatric Pharmacy Association (PPA) and is the founder/chair of their Neurology Special Interest Group.
