About Mona Alshahawey

Dr.Alshahawey is a postdoctoral associate at the Department of Pharmacotherapy and Translational Research, College of Pharmacy. Her primary focus involves computational phenotypes related to cardiovascular diseases, genetic association studies, GWAS, and machine learning. She works with Dr. Caitrin McDonough on various projects, employing programming languages such as R, Python, and SAS on real world data.

In addition to her role at the University of Florida, she hold the position of Assistant Professor of Clinical Pharmacy at Ain Shams University in Cairo, Egypt.

With eight years of experience, her expertise spans clinical trials, pharmacogenetics, health equity fundamentals, patient-centered outcomes, pharmacoeconomics, qualitative research, survey analysis, and comparative effectiveness research. Her educational background includes both Master’s and PhD degrees in Clinical Pharmacy – Nephrology with a focus on clinical trials. Throughout her career, she has been actively involved in various aspects of research, from study design and protocol submission to patient screening and follow-up, data collection, and statistical analysis.
